Overview:

The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) within the office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) improves national preparedness for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) accidents and attacks, pandemic influenza, and emerging infectious diseases by supporting the development and acquisition of medical countermeasures (MCM) against these threats.

The Division of Clinical Development (DCD) is seeking a Biostatistician to provide advanced statistical consulting and data analysis support to BARDA clinical medical countermeasure projects, including the NextGen Clinical Vaccine Programs. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Statistics, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.

This position is fully remote and requires a candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Duties And Responsibilities:

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide statistical consulting and reviews of protocol SAP study reports.
  • Support Project Teams and the clinical development for NextGen COVID 19 vaccine studies with statistical analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Statistics, economics, math, or equivalent fields and 5+ years of relevant industry experience in biopharmaceutical/biological sciences OR MS degree in Statistics or Comparable Quantitative Field with 10+ years’ experience specifically related to the development of medical countermeasures against infectious diseases.
  • Demonstrated experience of statistical programming in SAS and R.
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistical design, modeling, and methodologies
  • Ability to obtain HHS badge (Public Trust; Tier 2)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in Python optional but a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff
